Modern Day Slavery Statement 2022
This statement outlines the actions of Lunar Blockchain Ltd (Lunar) taken to understand the potential risks modern slavery has to its business and the steps in place to ensure no human trafficking or slavery is involved either in the business itself or its supply chains. Lunar recognises that modern-day slavery and human trafficking is a worldwide issue and that the abolishment of slavery and trafficking is a global priority. Lunar is committed to reducing the risk of slavery and human trafficking within its supply chain
Introduction
The purpose of this statement is to highlight the steps that Lunar has taken in the previous financial year and set goals for the following financial year, to reduce the risk that slavery and human trafficking is present in Lunar operations or supply chain. This statement is made pursuant to section 54 (1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our company’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the company’s financial year, ending 31/12/2022.
Our Business
Lunar are a provider of consultative-led managed service, data centre & security solutions.
Internal Risk Management
Lunar ensures that all our employees have a safe work environment that is free from discrimination, including gender, age, race, religious beliefs, sexual orientation and gender identity, disability and national origin. In conjunction with this, we comply with all UK legislation, including UK labour laws.
Supply Chains and Due Diligence
Lunar assesses all of our suppliers to ensure that they have an ethical business practice that consists of strong labour regulation. Directors and key purchasing personnel have visited the sites where there is a high risk of slavery and human trafficking (using the global slavery index) to assess whether suppliers are complying with modern slavery legislation.
Addressing Supply Chain Risks
Lunar is committed to acting ethically and with integrity, to ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place anywhere within our business and we expect our supply chain partners to comply with our approach.
Prior to working with suppliers, Lunar carries out a due diligence investigation to ensure that the suppliers have their own clearly defined ethical working practices, including compliant anti-slavery and human trafficking policies and processes, within their businesses, and confirmation that they comply with the requirements of the Modern Slavery Act is required. Any instances of non-compliance are addressed and appropriate remedial action is implemented on a case by case basis.
Zero Tolerance
Lunar has a zero tolerance to human trafficking and slavery and will never knowingly work with suppliers and organisations who are involved in this. If provided with strong evidence that one of our supplier’s practices slavery or human trafficking, we will notify them of a 90-day deadline by which the supplier must provide strong evidence that the compliance issue has been resolved. At present we have not found any evidence of human trafficking and slavery in our supply chain.
Training
In addition to communicating our Slavery Statement with all areas of the business, it is important that key staff undergo anti-slavery training so that we can continue to better assess the risks in our suppliers.
Further Actions
Going forward, we will look to:
- Continue to ensure that we maintain our levels of ethics and integrity by providing training to staff who have an interface with our supply chain partners and that they are encouraged to report any concerns in this regard.
- Continue to obtain information from new suppliers on processes and policies they currently use to tackle modern day slavery and human trafficking.
- Continue to ensure new and existing suppliers complete a self-assessment anti-slavery questionnaire to ensure all local slavery and human trafficking laws are being complied with.
This statement is made in accordance with section 54 (1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes our company’s slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year 2022.
